Hult Prize UCH Hosts Pitch Competition
On Saturday, 7th of February, 2026, Hult Prize, University College Hospital, Ibadan, hosted her On-Campus Pitch Competition, with Drs Omowumi Femi-Akinlosotu, Oluwawapelumi Akin-Ajani, and Abdulhammed Babatunde serving as judges. The event, originally billed to commence at 12 pm at Famewo Common Room, Alexander Brown Hall, began at 12:13 pm, moderated by Abiola Ojo and Adebiyi Ayanfe.
Following an opening address by David Akinjare, Hult Prize UCH Campus Director, the pitches began, first with the Biomedical Laboratory Science Innovation Academy (BMLSIA) Team and their advocacy for the use of electronic medical records during health outreaches. The Errandly Team of 500L BDS undergraduates were the next pitch, and their model for outsourcing errands was presented to the audience. The H-Team, Caleb Bankole and Richard Fagbuyiro of the 2k27 class would propose a housing platform later on, designed to circumvent agent fees and help students find suitable off-campus accomodation, and teams NaijaRx and NeoHealthWeb would close out the session.
The H-Team will end up in 3rd place, just behind runners-up, BMLSIA. But the Errandly team at this instance stole the show, award the First Prize by the judges for their efforts. When approached for comment by UIMSA Press, Errandly Founder and CEO, Olalekan Yusuf proved enthusiastic about potential expansion. “Our vision right now is bigger than UCH. UCH has given us an environment to prove behavior, logistics, pricing, and trust. We have seen strong adoption, repeat usage, and word-of-mouth growth; which tells us the problem is real. The next step is expansion across campuses and similar student comminities where people are busy as well.”
David Akinjare was full of praise for the participants. “What stood out most to me was the level of support and the quality of ideas presented by the participants. The creativity shown reaffirmed why platforms like the Hult Prize matter—they push people to think bigger. I’m proud of all the teams who participated and congratulations to our winners, Errandly, who proved worthy through the judges’ evaluation. My hope is that this edition becomes a foundation for even bigger, more engaging future editions that students will look forward to and give their best to.” Following this victory, Team Errandly will be representing UCH at the Hult Prize Nationals.
