The MBBS ladies have sealed their place in the semi-final of the SEALS Cup once again after a 2-0 win against CLA at the SUB mini-pitch.
After the 1-0 win against Archaeology on Saturday, 9th of May, 2026, which ensured they finished top of Group D, MBBS showed up and battled a tricky quarter-final against CLA, who finished second in their group, C. The match began in high spirits at 5:25 PM at the SUB mini pitch, the CLA team kicked off with an intense attack but the MBBS ladies, with a forward line-up of Chidinma and Ope, proved to be much more formidable.
While the CLA team tried to defend, they just couldn’t keep up with the intensity of Sarah’s dribbles. The advantage came in the 11th minute when Ope manoeuvered her way through the CLA defense and single-handedly gave a clean shot into the net.
Just before the 1st half ended, the match became more interesting as Ope doubled her goal tally to put MBBS ahead by two goals.
The second half began and the CLA team were under pressure to score against the MBBS team. They didn’t get the start they would have wished as they almost fell to an own goal but, their goalie cleared her line just in time.
The game got hotter as Sarah took control of the midfield, dazzling the CLA defense with crazy dribbles. Jola came on for business too as she headed the powerful shot from the opposing team.
At the other end, Afeezah had a good hold of the ball to keep it from crossing the line while Ope did her magic with the ball. Despite the sensational double save from the opponents’ goalie in the closing minutes, it couldn’t change the fate of the CLA team.
With this victory, the MBBS female team has now progressed to the semi-finals for the second time in three years.
