Spontaneous Protest Erupts Over NASU/SSANU Induced Hardship
A protest by students of the University of Ibadan started around the early hours of Wednesday morning due to persistent irregular light and water supply as a result of the ongoing NASU/SSANU strike.
The crowd started as a small number from the Independence and Nnamdi Azikiwe halls and has grown to a much larger number whilst chanting, “No light, no class” and “No water, no class.”
This protest has led to disruption of classes as seen in the Faculty of Sciences and eventually spread to the Faculties of Computer Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and Social Sciences respectively, then Faculty of Arts before reaching the Nursing-Agriculture-Forestry axis.
Students previously present in those classes were urged to join the protests and even the news of temporary restoration of light supply hasn’t deterred the crowd.
As at the time of publication, the protesters are en masse and on their way to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
