CoMUI Declares Lecture-Free Period for DOKITA Symposium

The College of Medicine, University of Ibadan has approved a lecture-free period for all medical students to enable participation in the 53rd Symposium and 42nd Journal Launch of the DOKITA Editorial Board according to an internal memorandum dated April 8, 2026. Lectures will be suspended from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, following approval by the Provost.

The symposium, themed “Bridging the Gap: Innovation and Equity in 21st Century Medical Training in Nigeria,” is aimed at addressing key issues affecting medical education in the country and exploring future directions.

Students across all departments, including MBBS, BDS, and Physiotherapy, have been encouraged to attend the event.

The College also directed academic staff to avoid scheduling lectures within the stated period to ensure full student participation.

Sunday Precious Nnamdi

Nnamdi Sunday is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Ibadan and a campus journalist with a strong focus on news reporting, health and creative writing. He currently serves as the News Editor and Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Clinicals) at UIMSA Press, having previously held the role of News Editor. He is the recipient of the UIMSA Press Pressman of the Year award for the 2024/2025 session and was nominated for Best News Reporter at the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan awards for the same session. Outside of medicine and writing, he is passionate about choral music, and can often be found singing, attending events, networking, and exploring new experiences.
