Tee Talent FC rounded out a truly dominant showing at the 2026 edition of the Sigma’s Chief League with a 5-1 victory over Team Invictus, to secure gold in the Final of the Women’s Category, contested on Thursday, September 10, 2026. SFA also did enough to secure bronze, with a 1-0 victory over Phoenix FC.
Road to the Final: Semis
The semi-finals were played on Monday, 8 September 2026, producing contrasting results. Tee-Talent FC, who finished unbeaten and in pole position in the league phase, squared off against the fourth place team; another tournament favourite, 2025 runners-up SFA. The other semi-final was a fixture between the teams ranked second and third in the league phase – Phoenix and Team Invictus.
Phoenix FC v Team Invictus
The first semi-final was a cagey affair between two very closely matched teams. Though most of the first half action was confined to the Phoenix half, no breakthrough was forthcoming. The second half offered even little more and the match was sent to penalties after the 0-0 fulltime draw.
Team Invictus took first from the spot, duly converting. Phoenix scored their first but missed their second, offering Invictus the chance to clinch the victory with their third, which they grabbed. Invictus qualified for the final after seeing off their opponents 3-1 on penalties.
Tee Talent FC v SFA
The second semi-final brought together two teams who had faced off before, failing to be separated. A league phase meeting between the sides ended in a score 0-0 draw, as both sides struggled to find a way past each other – and was indeed the only match where Tee Talent failed to secure maximum points. In time it would prove an altogether different spectacle on this occasion. The intensity from both sides was apparent even from the opening minutes, as Sarah’s shot for SFA was cleared off the line very early on.
But in the end it was Tee Talent who struck first, with Onaopemipo punishing a rare defensive lapse from SFA. That strike appeared to set off a serious case of the nerves in the SFA backline, as they made yet another error, which went unpunished on the occasion. A goal came soon enough though, as a failed clearance gave Tee Talent the chance to double their lead. SFA went looking for a way back into the tie, bringing on Heritage. They came close but the Tee Talent goalkeeper managed to get a hand on a goal-bound effort, to keep her clean sheet intact at the break.
The second half was just as intense as the first as SFA continued to threaten. Sarah drew yet another smart stop from the Tee Talent goalie. With the game in the final minutes, Tee Talent netted a third to put the tie beyond reasonable doubt.
Third Place Play-off
Phoenix FC v SFA
The third-place match was played on September 10. Both teams had some nice sequences of play in the first half but the deadlock remained unbroken at the break. The second half provided the decisive moment. A wonderful passage of play culminated in Sarah, a constant menace throughout the tournament, finding the net to give SFA the lead. Phoenix pushed for an equaliser but could find no way through, and SFA held on to claim third place.

Tee Talent FC v Team Invictus
On September 10, the Sigma Chief’s League came full circle with the final being another repeat of a fixture from the league phase. Tee Talent FC and Team Invictus had met prior in the opening day of the tournament, and it seemed fitting for these two to draw the curtains on what has been a highly entertaining tournament.
The previous tie was settled in favour of Tee Talent by Onaopemipo’s lone strike, and she wasted no time in picking up from where she left off, scoring twice inside the first half to give Tee Talent a commanding 2-0 lead at the break. Team Invictus, who had navigated their way to the final via the drama of a penalty shootout, found no answer to Tee Talent’s relentless attacking play.
Abisola sparked the second half into life with a third for Tee Talent before Tega pulled one back for Invictus. Abisola soon scored her second to quell any simmering hopes of a comeback, before completing a remarkable hattrick in the latter stages.
It was a dominant victory through and through for Tee Talent, one that perfectly encapsulates a searing run to the final, that saw them emphatically dispatch opponent after opponent. They deservedly take home the gold, finishing the competition with the most wins (5), the most goals scored (17), and five clean sheets – their spectacular unbeaten record blemished only by a single draw and the one solitary goal conceded in the final.
Onaopemipo (Tee Talent FC) claimed the Golden Boot award with 7 goals, followed closely by her teammate Abisola, whose final heroics kept her hot on her heels with 6. Between them, the deadly duo accounted for 13 of the team’s 17 tournament goals. And to cap off a spectacular showing, Onaopemipo was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
