The group stage of the Women’s category of the 2026 edition of the Sigma Sports Festival kicked off on Monday, August 31st, 2026, with ten participating teams, and concluded with matchday 5 on September 6, 2026.
This year’s edition of the competition is modelled after the UEFA Champions League format where every team is placed on a single table, and each plays four matches to determine the top four who will be competing in the semi-finals.
Matchday One
On the SUB mini pitch, SFA and Rovers faced each other in the first match of the competition. Two goals from Sarah and Heritage gave SFA the advantage, and they claimed three points while maintaining defensive discipline to keep a clean sheet. Next up, NAAS Valkyries beat Asthenos with a lone goal to start their campaign on a positive note.
The penultimate match of the day was between Tee Talent and Team Invictus. A single goal from Onaopemipo downed Team Invictus, to ensure Tee Talent grabbed all three points for themselves. And finally, DA-EBS FC produced the third successive 1-0 victory of the day; one goal was enough to defeat Phoenix FC.
Matchday Two
On Wednesday, September 2, two days after Matchday One, Asthenos FC got us back underway, and following their loss in the opener, were able to give DA-EBS a taste of defeat. They scored two goals and conceded one to see out the score line 2-1 in their favour. SFA continued their winning streak, with a ruthless 3-0 victory over Chemistry FC, and yet another clean sheet.
NAAS Valkyries also handed FC Leonesse a defeat with a single goal in a replica of their first match. The last match ended in favour of Team Invictus; they beat Rovers FC with two goals to one, earning their first win after a defeat against Tee Talent on Matchday One.
Matchday Three
In the first match of Matchday Three, on Thursday, September 3, Asthenos experienced their second loss. With a single goal, Phoenix FC defeated them and weakened their chance of qualification. Team Invictus also handed Chemistry FC their second loss; two goals from Princess were all they needed. For the second successive matchday, Chemistry FC failed to find the net.
Next up, FC Leonesse played a goalless draw with DA-EBS FC and Tee Talent thrashed Rovers FC five goals to nil, continuing their winning streak and moving to the top of the table with six points and a six-goal advantage.
Matchday Four
On Saturday, September 5, FC Leonesse finally got their first win against Asthenos in the first match of Matchday Four. They won the game with a lone goal, and Asthenos was officially confirmed disqualified, having amassed a measly three points in all their four matches. Next, Phoenix FC got their second win with three goals and a clean sheet against NAAS Valkyries, and SFA played to a goalless draw against Tee Talent to wrap up Matchday Four.
The match between Chemistry FC and Phoenix FC couldn’t be held because neither team showed up. As a result, they were both awarded zero points.
Matchday Five
On Sunday, September 6, NAAS Valkyries lost their second consecutive match, this time against DA-EBS FC, with a 1-0 score line. Phoenix also defeated FC Leonesse with a solitary goal to qualify with nine points.
Team Invictus also qualified with nine points after putting two goals past SFA and conceding once. Tee Talent ensured they qualified with the most points after beating Chemistry FC three goals to nil.
