48 Hours Later, Silence From UI’ SU on UI3 Court Victory

48 hours after the court victory on the UI3 case involving Aduwo Ayodele, Olamide Gbadegeshin, and Nice Linus, there has been no word from the Students’ Union, or the office of the president.
Recall that the case was between the three aforementioned names and the University of Ibadan on the victimisation due to the protest on fee hikes at the inauguration ceremony on the 13th of May, 2024. Reports from the UI3 are that the union offices, since the incident, has not cooperated with them.
Furthermore, according to a report from Nice Linus, she reached out to the Union on the 27th of March, to let them know of the development regarding the court case and the final hearing as they (SU) didn’t deem it fit to reach out first. A physical meeting was planned for the 28th of March, but could not be held, and her efforts to reschedule before the court day didn’t come to fruition – even after the court date had been adjourned.
She also mentioned that they reached out to the Union to collaborate with them and assist with the mobilization of students to increase public participation, but they got no response, as the meeting was not held. It is also worthy of note that no member of the Students’ Union executive arm was present at the Federal High Court on the 15th of April, 2026.
Before they handed over, the Odedele-led administration was also contacted on the use of the Union bus for the mobilization of students to court, but the house secretary told them that they had given out the bus to others. The university community is expectant of the Union to break the ice, as soon as possible, to know where the Union stands in this.
