VET. Medicine Halts MBBS’ Unbeaten Run With 1-0 Win

At the SEALS Cup ’26 opening ceremony on the 17th of April, 2026, Vet. Medicine snatched three points from the defending champions with a goal win at the Old Football Stadium, SUB Pitch.

The kick off was by 5:17 PM and the defending champions had the better plays and touches. It was expected as they were most acclaimed better side. However, a series of attempts at the MBBS’ final kept getting neutralised by the defenders and ultimately Orodin, VET’s goalie.

At the tenth minute, VET had had only a chance that didn’t amount to anything. MBBS, on the other side, were not able to get the better of Orodin. At the middle of the first-half display, the MBBS fans were beginning to get impatient and had started calling out their players, particularly the attackers, to get their head in the game.

Orodin added some saves to his tally courtesy of MBBS’ Habeeb and Dave. At the half-time clock, it was still deadlock.

Second half resumed with VET being the better side. It seemed as their coach had knocked morale into them. Before MBBS caught up with their chemistry, they put one past MBBS’ goalie after a low strike that should have been saved but slipped off the gloves. First shot on target, first and only goal.

Pressure mounted for the defending champions and they began to win more fouls than they did in the first half. On the other hand, VET’s defence seemed unfazed, clearing their lines as much as they could. Orodin, with another attempt to keep the scoreline in his favour, made a save and went down after a bad collision in front of goal.

He got up after some minutes and match continued, only for it to be stopped by some technical errors on the sideline where VET wanted to make a substitution with a registered number that has been on the pitch earlier on another player. It was resolved and match continued with less than ten minutes left.

A series of fouls and tense play ended at the last minute with a free kick for MBBS in a dangerous position. Dave took his shot but was blocked by the defenders; there were a number of chaotic touches but all got neutralised by VET and the referee blew the final whistle at 6:30 PM.

UIMSA Press, in a conversation with VET’s goalie, “Well, to be fair, we knew we were coming for something serious because MBBS are actually the best team. That motivated us to play very seriously and we wanted to prove a point. We wanted to win, we came for the win and I’m so glad we did.”

Gerald, from the MBBS side, had this to say, “It was a good game, a fairly decent one. We weren’t clinical enough, I mean they were lucky but it’s all about who takes the most of their chances.”
