Amidst NANS’ Open Release of Dissent, Unjust Victimisation, Anti-Student and Anti-Greenery Actions, Deboye Praises Outgoing VC

The President of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, Temidayo Adeboye, in an open letter addressed from the Office of the President, praised the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, for a successful completion of his tenure as the 13th UI VC.

In the body of the eulogizing release, he stated that the aforementioned name  showed certain qualities as demanded by the office of the vice chancellor of a prestigious university. While addressing the letter from his office, he spoke on behalf of the Union in his subsequent acknowledgement of the VC’s willingness to dialogue: “As a Students’ Union, we acknowledge your willingness to engage with students on matters affecting our welfare and academic experience.”

While he admitted the existence of challenges in this said tenure, there was no explicit indication of these challenges but rather a list of the contributions. In the concluding paragraph, he appreciated the dedication, service, and commitment of the Vice Chancellor on behalf of every UIte despite addressing the letter from his office.

It’s noteworthy to mention that this letter was from the office of the President, not the Students’ Union, but paragraphs addressed the eulogy on behalf of the Union and UItes.
