ABH League Wraps Up in Style as Blazers win Victor Aire FA Cup

After a long and eventful stretch, the 2024/2025 season of the ABH League came to an end on Thursday, 12th of December 2024 with the Victor Aire FA Cup final between Blazers FC and Shegzy FC, third-place match, and Award presentation ceremony.

The third-place match between Skippo FC and Oshin FC kicked off at exactly 3:38 PM. The delay was caused by the lateness of some of the players. Skippo eventually had to start with 4 players and as the game progressed, it quickly became clear who the winner of the tie would be. At the end of the first half, Oshin was in firm control, leading by 6 goals to 1. Nothing much changed in the second half; Oshin extended their lead, and the game finally ended with the score 9-2. This follows the frenzy of the final game week of the league, where Gladiators FC pummeled Skippo FC 8 goals to nil to clinch the league title.

The much-awaited showdown between Blazers FC and Shegzy FC kicked off around 4:30 PM. Blazers FC defended their trophy against a stubborn Shegzy FC who made life extremely difficult for them. It was an expectedly tough tie, with a single goal separating both sides by halftime. The goal was scored by Alonge Rasaq, assisted by Ola, and was enough to allow Blazers FC lift the much-coveted Cup.

The match was not without drama. Shegzy FC, notorious for their ‘antics’, were involved yet again in multiple clashes with the referee and with Blazers FC players. This was at its peak when a goal-bound effort from Ade, their stalwart defender, which they claimed crossed the goal line, was judged to have struck the bar by the referee. The referee blew his whistle to signal the end of the match at exactly 5:43 PM. Players and fans of Shegzy FC sank to their knees, while the players and supporters of Blazers FC pumped their fists in the air in jubilation.
