Professor T. A. Lawal, Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, University of Ibadan, is set to deliver the University’s 629th Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The lecture, titled “Creating Passageways in Dark Alleys: The Bumps, the Spurs and the Speed-Breakers,” will be delivered on behalf of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. It is scheduled to take place at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, at 3:00 p.m.
Professor Lawal, a consultant in the Department of Surgery, has a longstanding connection with the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA), having previously served as a UIMSA Senator during his student days. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences and one of the association’s Staff Advisers.
In a message to UIMSAites, The Vanguard X called on students to attend the lecture in large numbers and honour Professor Lawal, describing his progression from student leadership to the deanship as a journey worth celebrating.
Transport arrangements for clinical students will be communicated at a later date.
