In a memorandum released by the University of Ibadan Student Affairs Division on Friday, 18th September, 2026, the Deputy Registrar (Students) formally announced the commencement of the 2026/2027 Students’ Union Electoral Process and the release of the approved schedule for the election of Students’ Union Executive and Students’ Representative Council (SRC) positions. This announcement came following the inaugural meeting of the Electoral Commissioners which took place on Thursday, 17th September, 2026.
According to the approved schedule for the election of the Students’ Union Executive positions, the proposed date for the lifting of electoral ban and sensitisation is Friday, 18th September, 2026; effective from 8:30pm as announced by the Students’ Union Electoral Commission, University of Ibadan (SUEC’26) on the same day via a broadcast.
Other proposed dates from the schedule include: Monday 21st September to Friday, 2nd October, 2026, for the Collection and Submission of Nomination forms with the period of extension included. Background Check is scheduled to begin on Friday, 2nd October and end on Friday, 16th October, 2026. The date for the accreditation exercise is to be announced later. Screening of candidates will be on Saturday, 24th October while Press Night will be on Wednesday, 28th October. Speech Night (Manifesto N8ght) is slated for Friday, 30th October and the Election Day will be on Saturday, 31st October, 2026.
For the election of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Collection and Submission of forms starts on Monday, 21st September and ends on Monday, 2nd November, 2026. Background Check is scheduled to hold on Monday, 2nd November, Screening of candidates will be on Tuesday, 3rd and Wednesday, 4th November and finally, the SRC Election Day will be on Saturday, 7th November, 2026.
The costs of the Nomination forms for different positions were also stated in the memorandum – President – 10,000 Naira, Vice President – 8,000 Naira, Other executive positions – 7,000 Naira and Students’ Representative Council – 3,000 Naira.
