UI Holds 609th Inaugural Lecture, Professor Owoeye Delivers Lecture on Human Brain

The University of Ibadan on Thursday held its 609th Inaugural Lecture, delivered by Professor O. Owoeye of the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences starting at exactly 3:00 pm at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

The lecture presentation, titled “The Human Brain: The Threes (3s) Therein, and Neuroprotection,” started after the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kayode O. Adebowale, read the citation of the inaugural lecturer.

The event marked the first inaugural lecture from the Department of Anatomy, making it a significant academic milestone for the department and the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. In his lecture, Professor Owoeye explored the structure and functions of the human brain, drawing attention to the concept of the “Threes (3s)” in its organization and stressing the need for neuroprotection to prevent damage and preserve brain health.

After the lecture, a reception was held at the Pharmacy Lecture Theatre, where colleagues, students, staff, and guests came together to celebrate the inaugural lecturer.

The event came to an end following a vote of thanks by Prof. O. Owoeye at about 5:50pm.

Sunday Precious Nnamdi

Nnamdi Sunday is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Ibadan and a campus journalist with a strong focus on news reporting, health and creative writing.
