Provost Election: COM-UI Hosts Community Engagement Session for Aspirants

The College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, hosted a Community Engagement Session with aspirants for the Office of Provost on Tuesday, 28th of May, 2024, at the Paul Hendrickes Lecture Theatre, University College Hospital.

The event was organised in a bid to evaluate the plans of aspirants, providing an avenue for stakeholders to ask questions concerning various aspects of the College. It was anchored by Dr. Gbolahan Olajimi, Sub-Dean, Clinical Sciences, and popular Splash FM Presenter, Michael Olatunbosun.

A brief opening remark by Emeritus Professor Akande was accompanied by the introduction of the three aspirants; Professors A. Adenipekun, T.O. Ogundiran, and M.O. Owolabi. Each aspirant was given fifteen minutes to elaborate on their plans for the College, after which they fielded questions from members of the audience. Questions ranged from Health Insurance to inter-disciplinary harmony and the welfare of medical students, among others.

Other dignitaries at the event include the current Provost, who doubles as the first ever female Provost, Professor O.O. Omigbodun, Professor Emmanuel Otolorin and Professor Temitayo Sokunbi. It concluded at 5:10 PM.
