LIVE: “UI has paid 90 Million Naira. No comment from UCH on how much they’re willing to pay” – ABH, SU Leadership Speak at ongoing Town Hall

Addressing students at the ongoing Town Hall Meeting at the Alexander Brown Hall, University College Hospital, ABH Chairperson, Ayotunde Oni, Students’ Union President, Aweda Bolaji, and erstwhile President, Samson ‘Host’ Oluwatobiloba, have disclosed more details from the meeting with management, hinting at the refusal of the Hospital management to pay their debt and calling for suggestions from students.
In his address, Ayotunde explained that the Hospital Management expressed no solutions to the burden, and even suggested that students sensitise the rest of the public as a form of ‘mouthpiece’. This was echoed by the SU President, who added, “The University Management has paid about 60% of the debt. And while the University Management is doing what they can, the same thing is not happening here [UCH]. This begs the question of what do we do next. As a matter of fact, we threatened that the protest would resume today. However, after Wednesday, we felt it proper that the generality of students make suggestions first. Whatever this house decides, happens“
Speaking to students, Host said, “They said they care about us and all, but our position was that we either sit back and watch till they come up with solutions or we partner with them. We then asked, since UI has paid a part, how much has the hospital paid or are they willing to pay. UI has paid off about 90 Million Naira of the debt between December and now, but no comment from UCH on how much they’re willing to pay”
As of Press time, comments are being made with regard to the next course of action. More details shortly.
