Less than a few hours before the event, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union dissociated itself from the UI’SRC legislative summit — tagged the Honourable Odidiomo Students’ Legislative Summit — in a memo signed conspicuously only by the President, Temidayo S. Adeboye.
The legislative summit is billed to hold at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, on Tuesday the 22nd and Wednesday the 23rd of September 2026.
The memo stated that “The University Management has also not endorsed the event, and no representative of the University Management will be present at the programme”. It further advised students to “exercise caution and refrain from attending or participating in the programme”.
A rebuttal message was quickly circulated on the legislative summit’s group on WhatsApp to counter the announcement. The message emphasized that the memo was “singlehandedly signed by the president and it is not the decision of the Students Union”. The message also urged students to make their way to the venue, stressing that the gathering is a leadership training and “NOT A POLITICAL EVENT”
