University of Ibadan Track and Field Team Continues Inter-Faculty Relay

The University of Ibadan athletics team continues her inter-faculty relay competition with a 4 x 100m mixed relay, which was held at Awo stadium today, 15th of August, between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

The event comprised 13 Faculty teams making up 4 heats, which include the Faculties of Agriculture, Education, Sciences, and RNR in the first heat; the Faculties of Law, Vet. Medicine, and Art in the second heat; the Faculties of BAMSSA, Nursing, and Technology in the third heat; and the Faculties of Social Sciences, Economics, and Clinical Sciences in the fourth heat. The three best runners in the first heat qualified, while two each qualified for other heats, after which all qualifiers competed for the top 5 spot.

In heat one, Agriculture, Sciences, and RNR automatically qualified while Education was absent. Likewise for heat 2, Law and Vet. Medicine automatically qualified as Art was absent. Similarly, for heat 3, BAMSSA and Tech automatically qualified as Nursing was also absent. And in heat 4 Economics automatically qualified on a walk-over because both Clinical Sciences and Social Sciences were absent.

In the finals, the five best runners emerged as follows: Agriculture, Economics, RNR, Technology, and Science. They are to represent the University of Ibadan in the South-West games. Meanwhile, a 4 x 400m non-mixed relay has been scheduled to hold next Thursday, 22nd August, 2024. 

Recall that the previous event was a 4 x 100m non-mixed relay, of which the best five emerged as BAMSSA, Technology, Social Science, Economics, and Agriculture for the male category; and Economics, RNR, Agriculture, Education, and Arts for the female category. All five will represent the University of Ibadan in the South-West games. However, only the first three were awarded medals.
