UItes Protest: Students Take A Stance (#TillWeWin)
Sequel to the events of Tuesday night as report by UIMSA press, on Wednesday 17th July 2024, the students of the university of Ibadan organized themselves further staging a peaceful demonstration against the numerous unfavorable policies that the school management has been rolling out, prominent among which is the school fees hike and the recent move to ration light.
The protest which started off this morning by about 6am from Zik, moved through Indy to all other halls of residence to mobilize people out in their numbers and then the train was taken to them school gate before touring round Faculties and making sure that the no class resolution is strictly adhered to.
By about 9am while the protesters were still making a tour of classes, the principal officers of the UI’SU executive council and the SRC went into a meeting with the management which lasted for about 2 hours before the SU leaders and the management team came out to address the singing crowd.
As of Press time, UItes are still gathered at the Tekena Tamuno Building, demonstrating, and awaiting the next round of deliberations.
