UIMSA to Host Preclinical Weekend on May 1–2, 2026

The University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA) has announced her upcoming Preclinical Weekend, a two-day social event designed for preclinical medical students (2k27, 2k28 and 2k29) to unwind, connect, and compete.

Scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, 2026, the event will feature two activities. Kicking off the weekend on May 1st is a Movie and Game Night at Indy Hall JCR, UI, running from 4 PM to 7 PM. On the following day, May 2nd, students are invited to the Preclinical Quiz and Debate, to be held at the Preclinical Lecture Theatre, University of Ibadan.

The Movie and Game Night is free for all dues-paying UIMSAites, while non-dues-paying members may attend for a ticket fee of ₦1,500.

Speaking on what makes this year’s edition stand out, SDO Preclinicals, Moses Dabor, explained that while the event builds on the foundation of the inaugural Preclinical Weekend, it comes with a refreshed experience for students. “The first Preclinical Weekend had a quiz, debate, and talent hunt, but this year’s is different and unique,” he said. “We’ve included a game and movie night because we want everyone to have a good time.”

Moses expressed optimism about the turnout and the overall atmosphere, adding that the goal is to create a memorable experience for all preclinical students. “It’s going to be an exciting one, and we hope the turnout is a lot better and that people really have a good time.”
