UI Declares July 15 Public Holiday in Honour of Late Former President Buhari

The University of Ibadan has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a public holiday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday.

This was announced in a special release signed by G.O. Saliu, Registrar and Secretary to Council. According to the circular, normal academic and administrative activities will resume on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Essential duty staff are expected to remain on duty.

Sunday Precious Nnamdi

Nnamdi Sunday is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Ibadan and a campus journalist with a strong focus on news reporting, health and creative writing. He currently serves as the News Editor and Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Clinicals) at UIMSA Press, having previously held the role of News Editor. He is the recipient of the UIMSA Press Pressman of the Year award for the 2024/2025 session and was nominated for Best News Reporter at the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan awards for the same session. Outside of medicine and writing, he is passionate about choral music, and can often be found singing, attending events, networking, and exploring new experiences.
