Three UIMSAITES Named 2026 NHEF Scholars

Three students of the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA) have been named among the 2026 Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) Scholars, joining the Foundation’s annual leadership and career development programme for outstanding undergraduates selected from federal universities across Nigeria.

The newly inducted scholars are Oluwasegun Oyesola (2k23 Class), Adedolapo Salami (2k24 Class), and Igdaliah Otitoola (2k25 Class), who were announced on June 1, 2026. They become the latest UIMSA students to earn the prestigious scholarship, following Covenant Odedele, former University of Ibadan Students’ Union President, who was selected as an NHEF Scholar in 2024.

The NHEF Scholars Programme is a fully funded fellowship that identifies high-performing students and equips them with career development opportunities, professional networks, and leadership training. The programme begins with a mandatory orientation week, scheduled to hold from July 4 to 11, 2026, in Lagos, featuring skill-building workshops, industry panel sessions, and business excursions.

Speaking on his selection, Igdaliah Otitoola described the opportunity as the fulfilment of a long-held aspiration. “I felt excited because it was something I had aspired to since last year. Beyond the prestige, I’m much more drawn to the tremendous prospects it holds for my career and professional development. The programme so far has been deeply transformative, and I’m enthusiastic to see where it all leads,” he said.
