COMUI Professor of Dermatology Wins International Leadership Award

A Professor of Dermatology at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Prof. Adebola O. Ogunbiyi, has been awarded the 2026 Presidential Citation Award by the American Academy of Dermatology for exemplary international leadership in dermatology.

The award honours Professor Ogunbiyi for her remarkable impact on dermatology, both in Nigeria and internationally. It reflects her dedication to improving dermatology practice, guiding and mentoring upcoming dermatologists, and fostering collaboration across countries in research and medical education.

Professor Ogunbiyi is a Consultant Dermatologist and the Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. She has previously served as President of the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists, Vice President of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology, and Vice President of the International Society of Dermatology. Her work has significantly contributed to dermatology training and medical education in Nigeria and beyond.

The award is widely regarded as a significant international honour, bringing pride to the College of Medicine, the University of Ibadan, and Nigeria’s medical community. The College congratulated Professor Ogunbiyi, noting that the recognition reflects her commitment, strong leadership, and lasting contributions to dermatology worldwide.

Sunday Precious Nnamdi

Nnamdi Sunday is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Ibadan and a campus journalist with a strong focus on news reporting, health and creative writing. He currently serves as the News Editor and Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Clinicals) at UIMSA Press, having previously held the role of News Editor. He is the recipient of the UIMSA Press Pressman of the Year award for the 2024/2025 session and was nominated for Best News Reporter at the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan awards for the same session. Outside of medicine and writing, he is passionate about choral music, and can often be found singing, attending events, networking, and exploring new experiences.
