NARD Suspends Nationwide Strike After Signing MoU With Federal Government

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on 29 November 2025 announced in a statement from its National Executive Council that it has suspended its nationwide, indefinite strike, following conciliation meetings in Abuja, where the association and the Federal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at addressing NARD’s 19-point demands.

NARD President, Dr. Mohammad Usman Suleiman, said the agreement covered timelines for resolving key outstanding issues, including promotion arrears, salary arrears, specialist allowance implementation, and the reabsorption of the “Lokoja 5.”

The association stated that the strike is suspended for four weeks to allow the government to implement the agreed items, warning that failure to meet the deadlines will lead to the resumption of industrial action.
