Students Opt for School Closure at Congress
Students in the ongoing Congress at the Kunle Adepeju Building Foyer have resolved for the total closure of the University, opting to sustain the protests until demands are met.Â
This is coming in response to the resolutions earlier announced by the UI SU’ President and SRC Speaker.
According to the Speaker, “The Management are not willing to consider any negotiations as regards school fees”. There were two proposed options from the meeting: I. An extension of school fee payments deadline by three weeks. II. Total closure of the University with students to sign an undertaking upon resumption.
However, following deliberations at the Congress, students resolved that there will be a suspension of all academic and non-academic activities until the demands are met, there will be total closure of the University, and that the protest will be suspended until Sunday and directed towards the GES Exams scheduled to hold next week. The full seven-point resolution will be released subsequently.
As at Press time, about 200 signatures have been gotten for the Congress.Â
