LIVE: Students Propose Continuous Protests, Indefinite Sit-at-Home

Students have suggested a continuous protest, as well as a sit-at-home at the ongoing ABH Town Hall Meeting concerning the 98-Day UCH Blackout.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, one Brownite said, “It seems like the hospital is shirking from their responsibility. At this point, it looks like the University College Hospital themselves are the ones we should campaign against“. Another echoed, “We cannot keep quiet, we have nothing to lose. I suggest that we go all out the second time”.

As a suggestion, a student emphasised the removal of caveats and concessions. “We must understand that we should not put caveats in these suggestions we are giving. Even though we understand that people are having exams, we must use the option of the protest. We do a physical protest now and then we could do an online protest directed at the Federal Government while MLS and Physiotherapy write their exams and then we strongly consider going home”

In his response, the ABH Chair, Ayotunde Oni, said,  “If we’re going to be protesting, it is going to be continuous. We’re going to have to pull crowd. This is going to be a challenge because majority of Brownites are at home andstudents on the main campus have writing exams“. He suggested Thursday, 13th February, 2025 to resume demonstrations.

Some students, however, have rejected this, insisting on the insufficient nature of a one-day protest.
