Six faculties have progressed to the Quarter-Finals of Jaw War: Rise of Legends following the Round of 10 which took place on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024, at the New Faculty of Technology Lecture Theatre, UI.
These faculties are; Arts, the Social Sciences, Law, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, and Best Losers of the night, Nursing.
There were meant to be five rounds of debates. However, following the Faculty of Pharmacy’s withdrawal, in accordance with a statement released by the Faculty’s Literary and Debating Society on motion clashes with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, only four complete rounds were held. In the other debates; Arts defeated Nursing by 76.5 points to 75.6 points, Law defeated Renewable Natural Resources by 66 points to 56 points, Social Sciences defeated Tech by 76 points to 64 points, while Agric defeated Public Health by 64.8 points to 64 points. Kareem Sakeena of the Faculty of Arts was the best speaker of the night with a score of 85.
Speaking with the Press on her win, Sakeena said, “ Well well, it feels great. The competition was keen but I’m glad that I won. I feel there is no better validation than being acknowledged as the best speaker out of 20 speakers”.
The Quarter-Finals will take place on Saturday, 7th December 2024, at the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, UI.
