Monday, September 21, 2025, marked Day Five of the Sigma Sports Festival, and with it came Matchday Two of the inaugural female edition—an edition that has so far more than lived up to the hype and delivered goals galore.
The opening game at Old SUB saw free-scoring Joga Bonito FC, fresh off their 4–1 victory over Phoenix FC, pick up the gauntlet once more, this time against Midway Storm FC, who had battled to a tough stalemate draw against SFA Femini in their opener. Kickoff came around 3 PM, and it didn’t take long for Joga Bonito to underline their title credentials. Heritage opened the scoring from an Eniola assist in the first half. Sarah, already with four goals to her name, struck again after a neat setup from Heritage, taking her tally to five and cementing her place at the top of the scoring charts. The final whistle at 4 PM confirmed a 2–0 win for Joga Bonito, who now look like serious contenders.

The second match brought its own drama before the ball was even kicked. SFA Femini and Spark Kickers FC were delayed after Spark Kickers couldn’t field a full side, and the game only got underway at 4:18 PM with Spark Kickers starting with four players against SFA’s five. SFA hit the post early, but relief came for Spark Kickers when their fifth player—the goalkeeper—arrived three minutes in and was immediately called into action with a fine save. SFA’s pressure finally told when Feyi, who had worked tirelessly all game, broke the deadlock. That goal opened the floodgates. Within five minutes, Feyi had turned provider for Abisola, then scored again herself to give SFA a 3–0 cushion before halftime came at 4:33 PM. Spark Kickers almost shocked the crowd with a chance right after the restart, but their momentum was quickly snuffed out. SFA’s #10 and Debbie came off the bench to devastating effect. The duo combined beautifully for Feyi to complete her hat trick before linking up again for Debbie to add the fifth and sixth goals. At full time, it was a resounding 6–0 win for SFA Femini—their first victory of the tournament in what was a statement performance.

At the close of the day’s action at the Old Football Pitch, Joga Bonito remains on top with a perfect 6 points from 2 games and a +5 goal difference. SFA Femini, who are yet to concede a goal in the tournament, sit close behind on 4 points from 2 games. Despite defeat, Midway Storm FC holds third place with 1 point from 2 games, while Phoenix FC and Spark Kickers FC round out the standings on zero points apiece—though both have only played once and still have plenty of time to turn things around.
The inaugural female edition has already delivered goals, drama, and stories aplenty. And with more league fixtures ahead, we’re only just getting started.
