UIMSA Press Holds 2025 Awards and Handover Ceremony

The University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA) Press held her annual Awards and Handover Ceremony today, 27th April, 2025, via Google Meet. 

The event celebrated remarkable contributions from members and marked the transition to a new editorial board for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Following a brief address from the now outgone Editor-in-Chief, Eriomala John, as well as members of his Editorial Board, awardees were announced. These include: 

Simeon Okojie – Best Entertainment Writer  

Sidiq Moshood – Best News Writer  

Moboluwarin Ogunleye – Best Features Writer  

Rodiyah Khidir – Best Politics Writer  

Emmanuel Ibitunde – Best Sports Writer  

Yusuf Akinyooye – Best Interviews and Opinions Writer  

Aisha Ibrahim – Best Health Writer 

The Sports Desk claimed the Best Desk of the Year award for the second year running. 

There was also the introduction of a new category of Awards for Outstanding Service to the Press. According to the outgone Editor-in-Chief, this is to recognise individuals who had distinguished themselves in service to the Press via their reportage and sacrifices. The awardees are: Olokungbemi Gerald, Sunday Precious Nnamdi, Emmanuel Ibitunde, and Ololade Ojeniyi. 

Afterwards, the new Editorial Board was introduced, consisting of: 

Editor-in-Chief/Politics Editor – Simeon Okojie

Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Clinicals)/Entertainment Editor – Adeyemo Peter 

Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Pre-clinicals)/Health Editor – Rodiyah Khidir

Board Secretary/Features Editor – Moboluwarin Ogunleye

Financial Secretary/Sports Editor – Olokungbemi Gerald  

Public Relations Officer/Interviews and Opinions Editor – Emmanuel Ibitunde 

News Editor – Sunday Precious Nnamdi

The newly appointed Editor-in-Chief, Simeon Okojie, expressed gratitude on behalf of the board and shared aspirations for the upcoming tenure.
