BREAKING NEWS: Fire outbreak at UCH ICU/Theatre Complex

UIMSA Press correspondents gathered from eye witnesses that the fire outbreak started at the ICU and theatre complex located on the 1st floor at around 11:40am. The fire was said to have involved the elevators and traveled as far as the topmost building on that line, said to be the tailoring department.

The fire service came into the scene along with Security officers almost immediately. However, there were initial obstacles and delays before access was gotten to the areas affected.

Thanks to the fire service and willing hands, the situation is now supposedly under control.

All the ICU patients have been moved out and are being accommodated at the telemedicine unit.

It was also claimed from eye witnesses that the CMD and a police officer went in to inspect the area.

Medical personnel are currently blocking the entrance to the ICU/Theatre Complex to prevent anxious relatives and curious persons from entering into the area because of the smoke. Nose masks were also distributed to people around as a safety precaution.

Details about the cause of the fire and casualties incurred are still unclear. More details to follow soon.
