UCJ UI Holds 36th Induction Week Press Conference

On Saturday, 23rd November, 2024, the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, held a Press Conference with regard to the 36th Induction Week at the Faculty of Education, Large Lecture Theatre, UI.

The Press Conference was organised to inform Campus Journalists of certain details of the 36th Induction Week, holding from the 18th to the 30th of November, 2024. 

The event kicked off with an address from the President, UCJ UI, Tosanwunmi Tarre, on the Global Campus Journalism Summit. She outlined the purpose of the Summit, as a way to bring various Campus journalism bodies together and foster development. She also mentioned sister Campus journalism bodies who would be in attendance such as; the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University, Press Club, University of Lagos, Campus Mirror,  Olabisi Onabanjo University, and Press Council, the Polytechnic, Ibadan. The Summit will feature panel sessions with industry experts. 

Afterwards, she spoke on the Sunday Oguntola Essay Award and Martin Isaac Award for Best UCJ UI Inductee; winners of both of which will be announced at the Induction Ceremony on the 30th of November, 2024. The Winning Prize for the former has been increased from 100,000 Naira to 150,000 Naira, while the latter has been increased from 30,000 Naira to 100,000 Naira. 

This was followed by an address from the UCJ UI Editor-in-Chief, Tijani Abdulkabeer, on the Campulse Magazine set to launch at the Induction Ceremony, imploring CJs to submitting articles. The Vice President (Administration), Abdulmuizz Oyekola, encouraged inductees to attend the training sessions leading up to the Induction Day. 

Speaking with the Press, Tosanwunmi spoke on what to expect from the summit, “Look foward to Campus Journalists from different schools, industry experts knowledgeable on different topics, and a proper summit”. 

The Induction Ceremony is open to Campus Journalists as well as other members of the University community.
