UI Students’ Union Updates Accommodation Application After Stakeholders’ Meeting

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU) has announced adjustments to the 2025/2026 accommodation application process yesterday, February 9th 2026, after convening a stakeholders’ meeting at the University of Ibadan to address widespread student concerns over the recently released Dean of Students’ accommodation directive.
According to a statement issued by the union President Temidayo S. Adeboye and General Secretary Joshua O. Shontan, the Union met with the Dean of Students, the Deputy Dean, hall chairpersons, faculty presidents, and other representatives to review issues raised by the student body regarding mandatory documentation and communication gaps in the accommodation process.
The Union said that following extensive deliberations, students are no longer required to upload an image of the JAJA card as part of their application, although the JAJA registration number is still required, and students who do not currently have their JAJA ID card may proceed with their applications. The release also states that the Hall Accommodation Form has been invalidated as a separate requirement and clarified that the University Health Services (UHS) Requisite Form applies only to returning students and not to fresh students.

The union reiterated the official schedule for accommodation applications, reminding students that JAJA details must be submitted between February 9 and 11, fresh students are to apply and pay from February 12 to 19, returning students from February 13 to 20, with room allocation set for February 21 for fresh and final-year students and February 26 for other returning students.
Beyond the internal application process, the Union said it has opened discussions with University Management and private hostel owners to promote transparency, accountability, and more student-friendly pricing for off-campus housing, reaffirming the Union’s commitment to student welfare.
