Survival Cup Final Delayed Over SUB Pitch Unavailability

The Survival Cup Organising Committee has explained the delay of the final between Psychology/Sociology and Mathematics/STE, citing the unavailability of the SUB pitch as the major reason for the postponement. The clarification was contained in a statement released in the early hours of Friday, September 4.
According to the committee, the SUB pitch has been heavily booked from noon till evening for the ongoing Sigma Competition, which began on August 31. Some players expected to feature in the Survival Cup final are also participating in the Sigma Competition.
The committee said it would not want players to rush between competitions or play while unnecessarily fatigued simply to meet a particular date. It, however, assured fans that the final will be played and promised to give it the “attention, time, organisation and atmosphere that a final deserves.”
The pitch shortage has also affected the CBN Cup, another UI football competition involving freshers offering courses at Sanusi Oladele Lecture Theatre, popularly known as CBN LT.
