Students Mobilise in Response to School Closure Announcement

Following the memo released by the University Management, directing students to vacate Halls of Residence by 2 PM today, students of the University have mobilised, stating displeasure with the Management’s decision.

The mobilisation which began some minutes after 9 AM, proceeded from the Nnamdi Azikwe Hall, to Indy, Idia, and Awo. As of Press time, the involved students are currently at Zik Hall on their way back from the female Halls of residence. A statement from one of the students, Aduwo Ayodele, confirmed that the movement was in response to the 2 PM vacation announcement and the perceived “high-handedness of the policy makers“. The final destination is proposed to be the Kunle Adepeju Building.

The UIMSA Press observed a low turnout of female students. Already, some students have been seen vacating Indy, Zik, and Awo.
