SRC 6th Emergency Meeting; UISU’ VP Referred for Disciplinary Measures Over Alleged Misconduct

In a statement released by the UI’SU Students’ Representative Council (SRC), following an emergency meeting as regards the ongoing Students’ Union Week. The release detailed the resolution that the Union Vice President, Ms. Olabisi Owadayo be referred to the SRC disciplinary committee over by-passing due process as to the planning and execution of the currently ongoing Students’ Union Week, violating the Article 25 of the Students’ Union Constitution.
The statement co-signed by the Speaker, Rt. Honorable Shoge Quadri and the council Clerk, Honorable Adedeji Praise, resolved the Vice President be investigated by the disciplinary committee on two misconducts; finalizing the details of the ongoing Students’ Union week before notifying the Council together with an unapproved execution of the first two days of the Students’ Union Week by the Council, and fixing and selling of ticket prices without the approval of the Council. Also, the Union has been absolved of all responsibilities, reiterating that there must be deliberations and approval before any decision is taken. “Accordingly, the Council absolved the University of Ibadan Students’ Union of all responsibility–financial or administrative–for any action, expenditure, or decision undertaken regarding the Union Week before its official approval by the Council in strict compliance with constitutional requirements.” the statement reads.
Furthermore, the Council adopted an amended schedule of the Union Week, dating from Monday, 13th of October, 2025, till Sunday, 19th of October, 2025, with the Vice President mandated to submit a revised plan reflecting the amendments by the Council. Also, the budget for Week events, notably Tech Conference and Health Day schedules were also amended and adopted, totaling #1,224,050.
The meeting was subsequently adjourned as the present Honorable members at the meeting falls below ⅔ of the quorum.
