Our Union
You are students!
You can’t achieve anything alone,
Be united!
You will keep us in check,
Where our actions will affect.
You will tell us ‘no’,
When our actions are not selfless.
We took money for utilities,
For water, internet, electricity, whatever.
Surely, you don’t believe that?
We are adults,
We simply speak for the sake of it.
Be united,
Tell us you believe it.
We are sure you don’t.
Everyone who is to lead you,
We shall choose.
We shall be there when the decision is made,
You’re too young to decide for yourselves.
We will choose those who will keep us in check,
And never interfere in their affairs.
We put them there,
Their protest is the least of our concerns.
The chipped buildings are not our speciality,
You don’t pay for them!
If that put a weight on your mind,
We will let you speak up.
Silencing you is not an option!
A send-off is enough,
Silently!
For every Naira you pay,
The service will be provided.
You ask questions, we will answer.
You request accountability,
We will show you.
But you need to remember,
We are adults!
You’re below us!
Promises made to you aren’t worth looking out for.
If you manage to cry out,
We shall not make you regret it,
Adults don’t do that!
This is a land of intellectuals!
There is freedom of speech!
You say whatever hurts deep down in your heart,
And our wide listening ears shall have mercy on you.
We shall relieve you of the burden.
Send you home to where you belong;
Because here, you need not be united.
