CRIH Swears in New Executive Council, Inducts 39 members

The College Research and Innovation Hub (CRIH) conducted its handover and induction ceremony on the 14th of December, 2024, at Famewo Common Room, Alexander Brown Hall.

The ceremony which began at a few minutes past 11 was anchored by the outgoing General Secretary, Adeniyi Adesola, who introduced the pioneer Grand patron; Professor Adesola Ogunniyi. Thereafter, the outgoing President; Tobi Olajide gave his speech on the tenure which had begun in April, 2023. He recounted some of the challenges that had been faced as well as the numerous successes that had been witnessed. This was followed by the financial report of the CRIH scientific conference presented by the Treasurer; Feziechi Anele.

The induction ceremony was carried out by the Grand Patron; Professor Rufus Akinyemi. Of the 80 applicants to the Hub, only 39 were accepted. He welcomed the new members and encouraged them to maximise the resources available to them. He also recommended that each member write a mission statement to clearly visualise their goals and keep on track. Certificates were presented to the best-performing inductees:

Best inductee: Felicia Ojo

First runner-up: Daniel Esanju

Second runner-up: Blessed Olaomo and Edna Chukwuma

The incoming Executives were sworn in by the Grand Patron. They are:

President: Oluwatimilehin Oladapo

Vice-President: Chukwuebuka Asogwa

General Secretary: James Iziren

Head, Programs and Content: Ayomide Oyekan

Assistant Head, Programs and Content: Jonas Ibekwe

Financial Secretary: Oluwatomisin Olawoye

Public Relations Officer 1: Olamide Odusola

Public Relations Officer 2: Collins Esohwode

In his speech, the new President reiterated the vision of CRIH to produce world-class graduates efficient in medical research and innovation. “In this tenure, we aim to enhance the impact of our programs by focusing on three key areas: strengthening the research capacity of our members, developing innovative solutions to pressing challenges, and securing strategic partnerships with faculty, alumni, and relevant organisations to provide hands-on research experience.” He also welcomed the new members and encouraged them to leverage on the resources available in CRIH in their research journey.
