In response to complaints on the Seals Cup 2025 WhatsApp platform concerning the innovations—particularly player transfers—introduced by the Seals Cup organizing committee, the organizing committee released updated regulations guiding player transfers on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at 08:14 PM on the same platform.
Key changes in the updated guidelines are
- The extension of the deadline from 11:59 PM on the 13th of May to 11:59 PM on the 16th of May.
- A caveat that excludes teams that have met the quota for the number of postgraduate (PG) and distance learning center (DLC) players from transferring in another PG player.
- The transfer fees for PG players, male and female, are #7,000 and #3,000, respectively. While those of male and female undergraduate players are #5,000 and #2,000, respectively.
- Now, only DLC players are not eligible for transfer. Undergraduate and PG players can be transferred. The reason for this was explained by Mr. Oyekanmi Farouk, head of the disciplinary and appeal committee here
