INEC to Conduct PVC Registration Exercise at UI, UCH Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in partnership with civic organisation 9jaCount and other stakeholders, will conduct physical voter registration exercises at the University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital (UCH) as part of preparations for the 2027 General Elections.

According to information released on WhatsApp, the UI registration is tentatively scheduled to hold from June 15 to June 19, while the UCH/ABH exercise is expected to take place on June 22 and 23, providing eligible voters the opportunity to register or update their voter details.

In a statement, former University of Ibadan Students’ Union President and co-founder of 9jaCount, Samson Tobiloba, popularly known as Host, said the initiative is aimed at strengthening democratic participation among young Nigerians.

“As part of preparations for the 2027 General Elections, we are mobilising eligible Nigerians, particularly young people, to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs),” he said.

Host added that the exercise is being organised in collaboration with INEC and will focus on youth-dominated communities, including UI and UCH. He further disclosed that 9jaCount is working with the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, faculty presidents, departmental associations, hall executives, and other relevant organisations to ensure the success of the exercise.

Students and other eligible members of the university community have been encouraged to take advantage of the registration window to obtain or update their voter records ahead of future electoral activities.
