The long-awaited FASU Afro-Varsity 3×3 Basketball Challenge officially commenced today, May 30, 2026, with the technical meeting and FISU Green Project Initiative, and is expected to kick-off tomorrow at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan on May 31, 2026.

The FISU Green Project Initiative and the technical meeting took place at the new football stadium and the staff school hall, respectively. As earlier reported by UIMSA Press, it’s a competition opened to African Universities. Participating schools have been arriving since Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and accreditation had followed suit. As confirmed from a member of the Local Organising Committee, there will be sixteen male teams and ten female teams participating in the challenge.

- Nile University (Nigeria)
- University of Lagos (Nigeria)
- University of Abuja (Nigeria)
- Kisii University (Kenya)
- Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho (Nigeria)
- Higher School of Science and Technology, Benin (Nigeria)
- Federal University, Lokoja (Nigeria)
- Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (Ghana)
- Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria)
- University of Cape Coast (Ghana)
- Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (Nigeria)
- Unilorin, Ilorin (Nigeria)
Players from participating schools are accommodated at the Adebayo Akande Hall. Volunteers from the French department are also assisting the participants from Francophone countries in navigating their way. The court is set-up at the car park at ICC, University of Ibadan. More details to come later.
