Zik Hall League – a football league belonging to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall – has today, July 18, 2024, conducted a press conference to inform its club owners and coaches, members of the press, and public observers, about the activities of the league for this year’s tournament.
The event took place at Zik Hall JCR between 4:00 PM and 5:25 PM.
The Zik Hall League consists of 10 teams with a maximum of 12 players, of which at least six are Zikites, and of which at least two Zikites must play in every match. Matches are to run from July 20th through December of this year and each match will comprise two 30-minute halves, with a five-minute break in between. According to the League Chairman, Olowu Daniel, each team paid a 10,000 Naira registration fee. At the end of the tournament, the overall winner will receive prizes while medals will be presented to outstanding performers in selected roles.
The 10 teams and their attached owners are: The Invicibles—Nadal, Paulo Santini FC—Paulo, Young Boys FC—Fadaca, Emergence FC—Semaj, Los Pistoleros—Soj, Blueblock FC—Blobeng, Blaze FC—Damilare, Vanguard FC—Tobi, Los Galaticos—Sanjay, and Host, and Phantom 12—Salyuns and Sovite (the only female team owner).
Speaking on enforcement of rules and regulations during the Zik Hall League tournament, the League Chairman said a guide book that outlines all the rules and regulations of the tournament, as well as the corresponding punishments for infractions, would be used to ensure fairness and discipline during the games. On whether players will be paid for participating in the tournament, a team owner mentioned that processes regarding player remuneration would remain undisclosed. The Chairman also said that “if a team needs to postpone a game, they must notify the league at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled game time, after which a deliberation will be taken“. The teams will also feature transfers on deals exclusively determined by the exchanging clubs.
