The University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association Senate has suspended Senator John Oludele, the association’s sports secretary, for three weeks effective from July 26, 2026, after a simple majority vote.
The fourth emergency meeting of the Senate scheduled for 8pm on July 25, 2026, kicked off with 64th health week proposal and the subsequent adoption by the Senate. Afterwards, the secretary of the Senate Committee on Discipline presented the committee’s report from her hearing held on July 24, 2026.
According to the report’s recommendation on Senator Oludele, the committee was able to confirm that Senator Oludele missed four meetings of the Senate without prior notification of absence. In accordance with the consitution, Chapter Three, Article XII, No. 5 that says “Following a referral to the Senate as in (2) – (4) above, or following an independent referral to the disciplinary committee by the Senate, a member of the Executive Council shall be suspended from office, by a simple majority vote of the Senators present…,” Senator Ayegboyin of the 400L constituency moved the motion for Senator Oludele to be suspended from office for three weeks and it was seconded by Senator George of the 200L constituency. Afterwards, the Senate Chair coordinated the secret ballot through the Chief Whip. Out of twenty-three active Senators on the call, the votes counted were twenty-one; twenty senators voted Yes and one voted No, for Senator Oludele to be suspended.
By simple majority vote, Senator Oludele is suspended from office as of the time of writing.
