A UIMSAite, Felicia Ojo, has been elected as the Chief Whip of the Students Representative Council, University of Ibadan, for the 2023/2024 tenure, following the Council’s first sitting held on the 16th of May, 2024, in a hybrid session online and at the Students Representative Chambers, Kunle Adepeju Building.
The sitting, which began at 3.50 pm, saw Hon. Busoye Matthias of the Nnamdi Azikwe Hall (89 votes), Hon. Jokanola Samuel of the Kenneth Mellanby Hall (79 votes), and Hon. Shoge Quadri of the Great Independence Hall (74 votes), emerge as the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Clerk of the House, respectively. They are part of the 128 Honourables inaugurated on the 13th of May, 2024, along with the Executive Council. A total of 145 members of the House were present at the sitting, including 17 Faculty Presidents.
Hon. Felicia Ojo is a representative of Queens Hall. Speaking with the UIMSA Press, she said ”The election was well contested for especially for the position of Speaker, as we had three aspirants who are very qualified for the position. Overall, the election process was a success, and I use this medium to congratulate every member of the University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council and wish us all a successful tenure ahead”.
Discussions about allocation of members to committees began after the election, with the allocation to be concluded in subsequent meetings.
