UIMSAite Emerges Winner of The Seyi Makinde Essay Competition

Oni, Alli Atilola, a member of the 2k24, 300 level class emerged winner of the Seyi Makinde Essay Competition, which was sponsored by the Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID).

The competition aimed to encourage young minds to think creatively, advocate for good governance, and broaden their horizons for leadership skills in their chosen careers.

There were three topics for the competition which were targeted at exploring and addressing key issues facing Oyo State. They included : “Strengthening transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability for a peaceful and sustainable development in Oyo State”, “Advancing the frontiers of possibilities for a safer, secured, and prosperous Oyo State through citizens’ active participation in governance processes,” and “Re-engineering the Oyo State energy system through the newly proposed development and implementation of the Oyo State Master Gas Plan: Expectations, Possibilities, and Benefits”.

Mr Oni was awarded a cash prize of N200,000 while the second and third prize winners were Alonge Razaq Adebayo, a 400 level student of Ibadan Dentistry and a Falade Tijesunimi Eunice who were rewarded with cash prizes of N150,000, and N100,000 respectively. Also worthy of mention is Adegoke Adeseun Oladayo, a member of the 2k24 class who made the top 20 list and thus would be privileged to also participate in a forthcoming ICT competent development training awarded to the winners and would be presented with a certificate of participation as well.
