The University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association won Third Place at the Professor M.A Oludara Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition organised by the Lagos State University Medical Students’ Association (LASUMSA) on Tuesday, 29th October, 2024, at the Main Auditorium, FBMS Building, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
The competition, organised by LASUMSA, as part of activities to celebrate their 2024 Healthweek, featured participants from six MSAs; Association of Medical Students, University of Lagos (AMSUL), Eko University Medical Students’ Association (EKOMSA), Babcock University Association of Medical Students (BUAMS), Olabisi Onabanjo University Medical Students’ Association (OOUMSA), LASUMSA, and UIMSA.
Questions were asked in three rounds and five categories, respectively. The categories include; General Knowledge, General Science, Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, and Clinical Sciences.
After the first two rounds, BUAMS and EKOMSA were eliminated, with the final four contesting in a Fastest and Best round which had questions from all the categories. At the end of the contest; LASUMSA emerged winners with 100 points, ahead of AMSUL and UIMSA, who had 40 and 36 points, respectively. All three teams walked away with cash prizes of 150,000 Naira, 100,000 Naira, and 70,000, in order of their podium placements.
UIMSA was represented by the Royal Quiz Club and Association President, Inioluwa John, Obiekwe Franklin, Oludele Hallelujah, Mbaonu Daniels, Babawale Isaac, and Team Coach, Raphael Oyegbile.
