The 2025 UI SU Freshers’ Week began on Sunday, 11th May 2025 with a Rally against examination malpractice.
The rally which began at the Students’ Union Building (SUB) car park moved across all halls of residence before returning to its starting point. With banners featuring messages like “True success has no shortcuts” and “Excellence through honesty,” freshers were warned of the dangers of examination malpractice and encouraged to embrace hard work.
Speaking with UIMSA Press, Head of the Rally and Awareness Team, Oreoluwa Ezekiel, expressed delight at the turnout. “The rally is always the first event and it highlights the Freshers’ week. We are here to shut down UI and we will do that.” He also commented on the movie night which held immediately after the rally, “I can guarantee that we recorded more attendance in the movie night than that of last year.”
The Freshers’ Week which would come to an end on Saturday boasts a line-up of other activities; Orientation programme, One Day UI SU President, Freebies arena, Sports day, Campus Rave and Variety Night.
