On the 16th of July, 2024, the University of Ibadan Management, rolled out a new schedule for the supply of power on campus.
With this announcement, power supply will now run from 8 AM to 2 PM, and 10 PM to 2 AM daily, ten hours in total. A special release made available on the University’s website, also included that, “The daily power availability of 18-22 hours from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has dropped to about 10-12 hours”, necessitating the University’s need to continue augmenting “whatever level of supply received from the national grid through local power generation, although at rising costs”.
Speaking with the Press, the UI SU House Secretary, Elemide Daniel, confirmed the development. However, he noted that “The Union was not consulted before it [the memorandum] was released”.
