The Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ-UI) held the fifth session of her LPO training series yesterday, May 23rd by 4 pm, at the Famewo Common Room, Alexander Brown Hall, University College Hospital, Ibadan. With members of UIMSA Press, ABH Press and Dentatics Press participating, it continues the May 19th to May 31st series designed to equip campus journalists with essential skills for impactful journalism.
Hosted by UCJ President, Toluwalope Ayeye, the session began and ended with the press prayer. The facilitators delivered interactive lectures with former UIMSA Press Editor-in-Chief, Eriomala John, speaking on news writing, UCJ-UI Vice-President (Admin), Ogunleye Moboluwarin, lecturing on features writing, and UCJ-UI politics editor, Utibe Emmanuel, concluding the training with a session on investigative journalism.
Speaking with the press, UIMSA Press Editor-in-Chief, Okojie Simeon, was supportive of the development. “It’s a great initiative, offering our writers a chance to learn the intricacies of journalism. I’m happy with the facilitators, they have a wealth of experience and it was reflected.”
