The Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, announced on Sunday, March 1, 2025, that it is now accepting new applications for the 2025 Sigma Scholarship Scheme, aimed at deserving undergraduate students.
As seen in a flier released by the Foundation, intending applicants must be UI undergraduates, currently in their second year or above (excluding finalists), and must be on a C.G.P.A of 3.0 and above with an indigent background to meet the eligibility requirements. The deadline for application is Monday, 10th March 2025.
In an official statement, Sigma Chief Olalekan Micheal Ajibola (OMA) expressed Sigma Club’s commitment to always stand for impact, excellence, and service. “For over 7 decades, Sigma Club has remained committed to its dual pillars—social engagement and philanthropy. The Sigma Scholarship Scheme is not just an initiative; it is a tradition, a responsibility we have upheld for years to support indigent yet deserving students of this great university. This scholarship is a testament to our unwavering belief that financial constraints should never be a barrier to excellence. As we continue this legacy, we reaffirm our dedication to giving back to the grassroots —the students— ensuring that talent and hard work receive the support they deserve.”, he added.
The scholarship scheme, which has existed for as long as the club but was fully institutionalized in 2018, has awarded more than 100 students since its inception and more than 40 students since its institutionalization. It counts as one of the club’s philanthropic activities.
