Speaking to protesters at the Federal Secretariat, Ikolaba, Oba Adedire Adewole Solomon, Head of Building, Federal Secretariat, Oyo, has promised protesting students of the University of Ibadan that power will be restored to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, by Friday, 24th January, 2025.
“I’m assuring you that by Friday, you’ll get your response. Immediately we’re done here, I will drive down to IBEDC and speak to them. I’ll hand it over to headquarters to work on”, he said as students echoed their distrust in the pronouncement. He also promised that the power supply would be constant from then on, after establishing that he would make contact with the UI’ SU President immediately.
This comes after four hours of protests by UI Students, beginning at the UCH Gate to the Oyo State Secretariat, and currently at the Federal Secretariat, Ikolaba. As of Press time, students are leaving the venue, singing their displeasure amodst discontent with the promises. Speaking with the Press, Miracle, a resident of ABH said, “There are no specifics. When exactly will power be restored? How many hours a day?”.
