On the 17th of July, 2024, the Nigerian Medical Students’ Association released official modalities for the 2024 NiMSA Games scheduled to hold between the 11th and 17th of August, 2024.
The document, released ahead of the Association of Medical Students, University of Lagos (AMSUL)-hosted games, in Lagos, highlights the different sports available for participation. According to the document, NiMSA Games 2024 will feature track and field events, football, basketball, volleyball, indoor games (FIFA, Table Tennis, Ludo, Darts, etc), and tennis. It’s noteworthy that any individual can participate in multiple sports.
The number of representatives required per sport was also highlighted in the document. For football, the standard FIFA rules will be employed. Likewise, FIBA rules will be applied in basketball. The standard National Athletics Rules will be used for Athletics. Female football will be a 5-a-side knockout format. Indoor games will also be in a knockout format.
Speaking with the UIMSA Press, Marvellous Owolanke, a member of the Association of Medical Students, University of Lagos (AMSUL) and Head of Publicity Unit for the NiMSA Games 2024, said ‘NiMSAites will experience the best NiMSA Games yet. From the opening ceremony to the outdoor and indoor games, we’ve made plans to make sure they have a wonderful experience.’
